Well, here I am.  I’m breathing and hanging on to every day.

I appologize for my absense.  I’ve been going through some things.  Personal, work, health, etc.  You name it and I’ve gone through something with in in the last few months.  Things aren’t all the way better, but I’m getting there.  I need to blog.  I need to come back to this.

I’ve got 5 babies to knit for between July and November.  The first baby is to arrive in just 3 short weeks, and I’m not even close to done with her blanket.  I’m hoping that by blogging I’ll get my butt moving a bit.  I’m not sure why, whenever I have something interfere with my life that I stop blogging and stop knitting.  These things should help me get through tough times.

Anyway, that’s all for now.  I just needed a short venting kind of post to get me back into the swing of things… I should be back later this week with some pictures.

Hope everyone is doing well.

To Rip or Not to rip- HELLLLP!!

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:45 pm by Melanie

Okay, so I got the measurements for my sister’s feet.  She is 13″ around the calf, 8.75″ around the ankle; and 10″ from heel to toe.

Normally I wouldn’t fret over these so much.  It is JUST a pair of socks, afterall.  But it’s also my sister.  And God love her, she’s the only sister I have, but she’s SOOO damn picky.  If something isn’t exactly what she wants it’s not good enough.  Some would consider this snobby, or even bitchy, but after having her around for 22 years I’ve just gotten used to it and accepted it as the way she is, and even admire her for it sometimes.  She’ll never settle for anything.  That said I am completly torn on these socks.  I think as I write this I know the inevitable answer, but I’ll go through the rest of my question anyway.

Right now when I put these socks on they are 11″ around the calf.  Which would make them 11″ around the ankle also.  Would that be too much sag?  Could I just decrease?  Would it look silly?  I think I know that I need to rip but then what size do I make them exactly?  9″?  Would that stretch to accomodate her calves?  Is there an all over ribbing that I could make that would make them stretchier?

 Opinions?!  Thanks!

My next sweater

Posted in Future Projects, Uncategorized at 8:42 pm by Melanie

I casted on for my socks last night.  Came up one stitch short and decided to tink back, that was taking so long so then I got the bright idea to take it off the needles and rip back 3 rows.  yeah, the yarn never made it back on the needles.  So I don’t feel much like working on those again tonight.

I also am stalled on my sister’s socks until my mom sees her this weekend to measure her feet.  I’m doubting the size of them.  And until I KNOW the measurements I’m just not going to waste my time knitting something I might end up frogging.

 So, the next project:

This is Demi from Vintage Knits

I’ll work on my gauge swatch while watching grey’s anatomy and maybe cast on for a sleeve.  This sweater is going to be super challenging.  But I think I’m up for it.  If THIS girl can knit TWENTY sweaters in her first year of knitting I can knit a cabled sweater after 2 years.  SERIOUSLY!
